Steeped in the 1930s–50s, Phil Riza is a French guitarist and singer who most often tours solo, nicknamed “the last troubadour”. He has roamed the roads of Europe and France, as well as faraway countries such as Australia, Japan and the USA.
His signature technique, picking, is an acoustic-guitar style widely used in blues and country music. It emerged in the early 20th century in the United States, in the states of the Old South, particularly the Appalachians (Carolina, Virginia).
The Phil and the Neighbors trio — joined by Dave on double bass and Bernard on drums — offers a repertoire capturing the American music of those years: swing, blues, rockabilly and even western swing.
An album is, of course, planned for this autumn.
See you soon on the road!
